Background

Before I knew what design was, I was already doing it: rearranging rooms, repurposing what others discarded, trying to make things make sense. That instinct eventually became a career I love.

I studied communication and visual design, then spent years in motion, branding and marketing, taking half-formed fuzzy ideas and turning them into something people could actually understand easily. It turns out that's also a pretty good description of product design, which is where I work now.

For the past 6 years I've been at CoachHub, a digital coaching platform operating across 20+ markets and languages, first building and leading a communication design team, now working on the product itself, focusing on complex product challenges across a global platform.

A good friend and colleague once made me a board-game card that read "Faris the Question Machine Cat." A delightful joke but a true fact, as I ask why constantly: why does this exist, why is it built this way, why does this matter to you. Curiosity is where good design starts.

When I'm not designing, I'm exploring Berlin by bike, photographing wildlife, training martial arts, or experimenting in the kitchen.
